My roof has a leak, do I need to replace the whole thing?
Whether you need to repair a small area of your roof or replace the whole thing depends on why the leak is occurring. If a few shingles have come off because of a storm, then a repair is definitely called for. If there has been a leak for an extensive period of time, and the underlayment and decking is damaged, it may be time to replace the whole thing. The best thing to do is to give us a call and let us check it out.
Is there one type of roof that is best?
Each type of roof has its own advantages depending on several factors, such as, where you live and the weather you experience, the look you want for your home and your budget. Give us a call and we can go over all of your options.
How long will a new roof last?
How long your new roof last depends on what type of roof it is and where you live. Poor weather can greatly impact the life of a roof. Asphalt shingles can last upwards of 20 years, fiber cement shingles can last up to 25, wood shake roofs can last up to 30 years, and tile, slate and copper roofs can last upwards of 50 years.
Do I need to clean my roof? If so, how often?
It is always important to take care of things around your home and that means your roof as well. Making sure that it is cleaned off regularly will help extend the life of the roof, putting off potential repairs or damage from a leak. Make sure any debris is regularly cleaned off, and a good cleaning should be done every 3-5 years. Keeping a clean gutter is also important which should be done once a year.

Tyler got back to me right away when I first contacted him ( via text on a Saturday) and came out to inspect the roof within 2 days on the Monday and emailed me a quote the following day. Impressive response time! He gave us several options to resolve the problem, didn't try to "hard sell" anything but didn't sugar coat anything either. As far as we are concerned, Undercover Roofing is (as my favourite performer once claimed) “Simply the Best!” Tyler and his crew are all polite, professional, disciplined, focused on their duties and all have great senses of humour. They were able to strip and reshingle our 3000 sq ft roof in 2 days. We had installed Iko Dynasty laminated shingles, which have a 40 yr warranty and are a Canadian product. Delivery of all necessary equipment was prompt and respectful of our property and the neighbour hood. Clean up during and afterwards was continuous and diligent. Apart from being very professional in their work standards, they were also respectful of our personal requests ie: advising us when they had finished a certain corner of the roof so we could safely put the cats out in the catio. Maybe not important to some but vital to us at the time. Thank you Undercover Roofing , we will most definitely recommend your services.
